iOS 18 Will Feature Design Changes Inspired by VisionOS

We’ve heard a lot of rumors about iOS 18, especially that Apple is going to introduce important artificial intelligence features that will make Siri better than ever before. However we had not heard rumors related to the design of the operating system, until now. According to a rumor shared this week by the Israeli website The Verifier, iOS 18 could introduce visionOS design news the operating system of the Apple Vision Pro.

The Verifier report claims that iOS and iPadOS 18 will feature elements of design from visionOS, such as translucent navigation bars that are evocative of the Apple TV app that appeared in tvOS 17.2. The overhaul also includes system menus and other stock apps like Safari, bringing them into line with visionOS’s aesthetic.

Apple usually announces new iterations of iOS at its yearly WWDC conference in June. The public can then download the updates in September, coinciding with the release of new iPhone models. It is expected that iOS 18, which will be unveiled at WWDC 2024, will proceed in this manner.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg verifies that iOS 18 is the most ambitious update to date, promising generative AI features that are integrated into the Messages app and Siri, as well as a Large Language Model (LLM). This development demonstrates Apple’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI-powered features into its ecosystem.

The Verifier has an uneven history of reporting on Apple rumors, so we label this rumor as “sketchy”.
