Once again, the life-saving function of an Apple Watch saves his life for a man from the US by helping him identify his silent heart condition.

Apple Watch Warning

Apple Watch’s health alert feature helped US man discover a hidden heart condition.

Apple’s advanced technology has been praised for its potential to save lives, especially when it comes to the Apple Watch, which has made headlines for warning users of critical health situations on a regular basis. There are numerous cases where people believe their Apple Watch identified major health issues, like irregular heartbeats, before a formal diagnosis was made. In a recent American case, a man thanked his Apple Watch for revealing a silent heart condition.

Another instance where an Apple Watch saved a life was with 65-year-old retired University of South Carolina Aiken provost Jeff Priest, who had a major health revelation thanks to his device. The Post and Courier, the local newspaper, published a report on the event that included details. Jeff was sitting on his couch one day when his Apple Watch sent him a health alert about a sudden increase in his heart condition, which is known as atrial fibrillation. Jeff first wrote it off as a possible device error even though he had no prior history of heart disease.

Jeff Priest, made the decision to follow his wife Ellen’s advice and get checked out medically. Even though she felt fine, hospital doctors verified that she had heart problems and gave her the necessary care. Jeff did not exhibit any symptoms, but additional testing identified persistent atrial fibrillation. After giving the event some thought, Jeff said, “I wasn’t having any symptoms.” He continued to show no symptoms in spite of the medical staff’s questions.

Jeff started taking medication to treat his heart condition following his initial hospital stay. Even though he felt well, he experienced another episode of atrial fibrillation just two days later. Jeff’s wife helped him stick to his treatment plan and even made arrangements for him to have cardioversion. Jeff experienced an irregular heart rhythm once more during a golf tournament prior to the scheduled appointment. Thankfully, it eventually returned to normal. “I checked my watch and I was out of atrial fibrillation,” he said. The scheduled appointment for cardioversion was deemed unnecessary due to the real-time monitoring.
